Always On My Mind
Always On My Mind
Healing isn’t linear.Losing someone we love is like losing a piece of ourselves — it leaves a hole that is constantly filled with the thought of them. This rings true even when we mourn with others, connect with strangers over similar experiences, and feel the pang of understanding when someone we meet has gone through a loss. We know about the journey. Some days are harder than others, some days we feel the best we have in years, and some days we don’t know which way is up. No matter what kind of day it is, one thing remains true and universally so: our loved one’s are always on our mind.
As we dance the dance of healing, feel the low valleys of our loss, and pursue our dreams even with hurt on our heart, our loved ones are always on our mind. It’s important we remember that we are on theirs, too. They cradle us in gentleness when we are having a rough day, wrap us in safety when we hold fear, and smile along with us as we keep their memory alive.
The 7/20 foundation supports communities across the U.S. recover and heal after acts of mass violence. We share a communal pain, a unique understanding of loss, and mourning with each new tragedy. Our survivor community is finite now, but the degrees of separation are diminishing. We are cardholders to a club we never wished to belong to. In each event we organize, wreath we send, and community we reach out to, the loved ones that we lost are on our minds. In turn, we are always with you, there isn’t a moment our thoughts are without you. Through community, hope, and love, we will all heal together.
